Following an invitation by a colleague to visit his home country of Moldova, we enjoyed a number of culinary and vinaceous experiences. Complemented by visits to the two breakaway regions of Gagauzia and Transnistria.
And since I was ‘in the area’ and hadn’t been to Ukraine for 8 years, I decided to give the Chișinău to Kyiv night train a go. Visiting the eastern suburbs of Kyiv that had briefly been under Russian occupation in 2022 left some lasting impressions.
All rounded off with a few more stops along the way back to the Fatherland to continue this year’s cycling.
